PAMPHLET FILES INFORMATION

What are the Pamphlet Files? These file cabinet drawers contain a wide variety of information in a format, which does not lend itself well to being placed on shelves like a library book. These items vary in length from a single sheet of paper to small paperback book size. The information contained in the items varies from biographies of individuals to histories of countries, from catechisms to theological treatises, from sermons to Bible studies. Information is primarily of a religious nature, but also includes secular material.

These materials are for use only inside the library.

Accessing information in the Pamphlet Files

There are two listings of the contents of these file drawers.

One is a numerical listing that corresponds to the order in which the items have been acquired and filed in the drawers. This list includes a general subject heading for the contents, the author, the title, and the date of publication. The other list is an alphabetical arrangement of the subject headings with only the number assigned to the individual items.

The most efficient way to use these lists is to check the alphabetical listing for the topic in which you are interested, get the number of an item with that subject and check the numerical listing to see if the title appears to be what you need. Then simply go to the drawer marked with the number sequence into which the item falls and find the number of the item in which you are interested.
