Hood Library Mission Statement
The Library provides access to materials that fulfill the Seminary's educational purpose of preparing men and women for leadership in the various vocations and ministries of the Christian church. The Library principally acquires materials that relate to the current Seminary curriculum. Materials in the areas in which degrees are presently offered are collected deeply and broadly, as curriculum needs dictate and budgetary resources permit. The research interests of the faculty are supported and encouraged, but that support is provided in a measure consistent with the curriculum. The Library serves as an educator in research processes, providing instruction in research methodologies and techniques.
The Trend of general acquisitions reflects the Seminary's core identity as a Methodist seminary. Hood takes seriously its historic and unique role in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
